Kilifi Transparency Hub

The hub provides free access to information, enabling young people in Kilifi County to stay informed about various topics such as education, job opportunities, health, and governance. The hub empowers them to make informed decisions, pursue educational and career opportunities, and actively engage in community development. By equipping young people with digital skills, the hub  enhances their employability and economic prospects. They get equipped with the necessary skills to thrive in the digital age, opening doors to job opportunities, entrepreneurship, and income generation. This contributes to reducing youth unemployment and poverty levels in Kilifi County. This not only drive economic growth but also inspires young people to become agents of change and contribute to the development of their communities.  The hub also fosters a culture of transparency and accountability by providing young people with access to information related to governance, public services, and community development. This information empowers them to actively engage in decision-making processes, hold authorities accountable, and advocate for transparency and good governance practices. Apart from opening its space for young people, the hub also runs some interesting projects as follows.

Integrity Leadership Development (I-Lead) Program

A four-month program for selected fellows, equipping them with the necessary skills, tools, and knowledge to become leaders in promoting integrity and develop integrity focused initiatives within their communities. The program covers a range of topics, including understanding corruption and its impact on society, promoting transparency and accountability in public institutions, developing effective communication and advocacy skills, building and sustaining partnerships for integrity, and implementing innovative solutions to promote integrity. Integrity Support Mobile Applications

These applications empowers community members to take a stand against corruption. With IntegityLink-Tuwajibike mobile app, individuals can report corruption cases, track their progress, and access crucial information on government budgets and expenditures. With PamodziChild – Education app, individuals can offer in-kind donations, financial sponsorships to vulnerable children, as well as report any child protection case. By using this powerful tool, we are fostering a culture of transparency and accountability, promote democratic practices, encouraging active community participation in the fight against corruption. 

Social Accountability Hackathons (SAH)

The Social Accountability Hackathons (SAH) engages young people in innovative problem-solving activities that promote integrity, accountability, and civic participation.  SAH represent a unique opportunity to empower youth, foster civic engagement, and promote integrity in a culturally relevant manner. By leveraging the local talents and passions of young people, we aim to create a generation of accountable leaders who will drive positive change in their communities. We currently have the following SAH:

a) Soccer-thon: A soccer tournament where teams compete not only for a trophy but also to develop strategies that promote social accountability within their communities. b) Cook-athon: A culinary competition where participants prepare traditional dishes while discussing the importance of transparency in food sourcing and nutrition. c) Music and Drama Thons: A performing arts competition where youth create original songs, skits, or plays that address social accountability issues in Kilifi County.  d) Students Integrity hackathon: Focused on students from local schools, where they brainstorm and develop projects that promote integrity and accountability in educational institutions.

Chanuka Na Digital-Skills

In a world where digital skills are becoming increasingly essential, especially for young people, this project aims to bridge the digital divide and empower youth with the necessary skills to thrive in the digital age. Additionally, by incorporating sessions on integrity and ethical practices, we aim to cultivate a generation of responsible and ethical leaders who will drive positive change in their communities.

Objectives: 1. Provide free digital training to 500 young people aged 14-29 to enhance their digital skills and bridge the digital divide. 2.Enhance the employability of young people by 30% by equipping them with valuable digital skills and integrity knowledge. 3.
